Red Gates is a multi-media collaboration between musician Hyetal, visual artist R3N, and author Tim Maughan. Inspired by contemporary sci-fi-like chaos, wellness tech, and megalomaniac CEOs, Red Gates is an abstract, multi-format, first-person narrative experience presented through a music album, a full length visual film and a short form visual novella.

Red Gates is the brainchild of London based musician Dave Corney aka Hyetal. In addition to creating and co-directing the project, Corney composed and produced all elements of the soundtrack as well as performing the project live.
Red Gates was released on Pure Life Records on July 26, 2024 in 3 formats: 140g vinyl (Red vinyl with black smoke), black rave case cassette, and digital. A limited Special Edition was also made available, which in addition to the vinyl, included a printed version of the novella and a DVD of the full length film.

The full length visual film as well as the cover art was produced by award-winning visual artist Mateo Vallejo, aka R3N.
R3N produced the visual film using real-time engines and graphics programming techniques to develop the visuals and edit the film. Utilising his own bespoke visual software, he has also performed the visuals live alongside Hyetal as part of Red Gates A/V performances.

The Red Gates novella was written by published fiction author and journalist Tim Maughan.
Written in a stream-of-consciousness micro-fiction style that sits somewhere between poetry and fiction, the narrative documents the first person perspective of one person going through the ‘ego death’ procedure.
A printed version of the novella, including full colour art, was made available as part of the Red Gates Special Edition.
